Sources Claim PayPal and Google May Partner to Develop New Digital Wallet Technology.

Close sources claim that PayPal and Google are in plans for a partnership to develop a digital wallet using near-field communication (NFC) technology. The plans are for a new mobile payment service that goes beyond plastic cards and allows financial transactions directly through PayPal mobile on smartphones.
This news has come following the statement by Laura Chambers, senior director of PayPal Mobile, announcing PayPal's plans for launching its own NFC-based commercial mobile payment service later this year. She also suggested that PayPal was open to partner with companies like Google.
2011 looks like it could be the year for the advent of NFC-enabled smartphones as many major mobile operators in the U.S. are collaborating to offer similar services.
The question is whether PayPal can be the first to launch this revolutionary commercial mobile payment technology.
