Social Networking Aids the Christchurch Rescue Effort

Social networking has a played a pivotal role with the Christchurch earthquake that has rocked New Zealand. A tweet from America saved a two sisters and brother from worrying about the livelihood their father. Unable to make contact by phone and unable to physically reach their father, a tweet was sent out into the twitter universe seeking assistance.

Moments later, a stranger made contact through twitter and offered to try and make contact with the father since he was in the area. He then found him outside his home alive and well and reported back to the family.

Other websites have also shown support of the rescue aid through social networking such as google people finder who've setup a special page where they can look for someone or share information on other people.
